Genshin Impact Artifact Simulator

By developing this tool, I demonstrated proficiency in using microsoft excel, system design, statistical analysis, and game balance evaluation.

This project is a statistical design tool created to analyze character optimization and game balance in Genshin Impact's artifact system. The tool simulates how base stats, weapons, and randomized artifact substats interact to determine damage output. It uses a Monte Carlo simulation to run thousands of randomized tests, helping to visualize:

  • The maximum, minimum, and average damage outputs possible for each character.

  • How stat randomness affects performance in practice versus theoretical best-case scenarios.

This project showcases my ability to:
  • Develop original game design tools – creating a structured, reusable system that aids in character balancing.

  • Create a spreadsheet-based simulator using Microsoft Excel, incorporating randomized stat generation, probability distributions, and data visualization.

  • Implement a Monte Carlo simulation to assess the long-term impact of artifact substats on damage output.

  • Create graphs and statistical breakdowns showcasing damage distributions, most common builds, and optimal vs. average performance gaps.

  • Provided game design insights on whether randomized stat systems add meaningful depth or unnecessary frustration.
